رفع الاتحاد الأوروبي مساعداته لمكافحة إيبولا إلى مليار يورو، بينما أرسلت نيجيريا 600 متطوع لمكافحة المرض، في حين سجلت مالي أول إصابة بالفيروس.
أعلن رئيس المجلس الاوروبي هرمان فان رومبوي في تغريدة الجمعة على حسابه في موقع تويتر أن الاتحاد الأوروبي سيزيد مساعداته المالية لمكافحة إيبولا إلى مليار يورو، وذلك في اليوم الثاني من قمة رؤساء الدول والحكومات في بروكسل.
ودعا رئيس وزراء بريطانيا ديفيد كاميرون إلى رفع السقف إلى مليار يورو، في حين كانت المساعدة الأوروبية قبل القمة تصل إلى حوالى 600 مليون يورو قدمت منها المفوضية الأوروبية وحدها 204 ملايين يورو.
غير مرجح
قالت منظمة الصحة العالمية إنها على درجة كبيرة من الثقة بأن إيبولا، الذي يتفشى في ثلاث دول في غرب أفريقيا، لم ينتقل إلى الدول المجاورة. وقال كيجي فوكودا، نائب المدير العام للمنظمة إنه يعتبر ذلك أمرًا غير مرجح.
وقال فوكودا للصحافيين خلال مؤتمر صحافي: "نحن على درجة كبيرة من الثقة الآن بأننا لا نشهد انتشارًا واسعًا للمرض إلى دول مجاورة، لا يزال الأمر باعثًا على القلق، لكن في اللحظة الراهنة لا نرى ذلك". وأضاف: "سنواصل البحث عن انتشار آخر للعدوى، لكننا ببساطة لم نره".
وقالت لجنة الطوارئ بشأن إيبولا التابعة للمنظمة في وقت سابق من يوم الخميس إن فحص المسافرين الذين يغادرون ليبيريا وسيراليون وغينيا يبقى إجراء أساسيًا لتخفيف انتشار المرض. وأضافت اللجنة: "الفحص الذي يجب أن يخضع له المسافرون عند مغادرتهم الدول الموبوءة يجب أن يتألف على الأقل من استمارة أسئلة وقياس لدرجة الحرارة، وفي حال اكتشاف حمى، تقويم الاحتمال بأن تكون تلك الحمى قد تسببت بها الإصابة بإيبولا".
أول عدوى في مالي
وعلى الرغم من هذا التأكيد، أعلنت وزارة الصحة المالية مساء الخميس تسجيل أول إصابة مؤكدة بفيروس إيبولا لدى طفلة وفدت من غينيا، ووضعت قيد الحجر الصحي في كاييس.
وقالت الوزارة إن إصابة مشبوهة بإيبولا لدى طفلة عمرها عامان، أتت من كيسيدوغو في جمهورية غينيا، وصلت الأربعاء إلى مستشفى في كاييس، وقد تأكدت إصابتها بالفيروس.
وأضافت: "عبر هذه النتيجة إثر تحليل مخبري، تشهد مالي أول إصابة بفيروس إيبولا مصدرها الخارج"، مؤكدة وضع الطفلة وجميع من كانوا يحيطون بها في الحجر الصحي. وأكد البيان اتخاذ وزارة الصحة المالية كل التدابير الضرورية لتفادي انتقال الفيروس، وهي تطمئن السكان إلى الإجراءات المتخذة، وتدعو إلى الهدوء. ورصدت مالي في نيسان (أبريل) الماضي بعض الحالات المشبوهة، لكن الفحوص أكدت عدم الإصابة بعدوى إيبولا.
600 متطوع نيجيري
وتعهدت نيجيريا الخميس إرسال 600 متطوع للمساعدة على مكافحة تفشي إيبولا، الذي أودى بحياة ما يقرب من خمسة آلاف شخص في غرب أفريقيا. وأعلن وزير الصحة النيجيري، أونيبوتشي تشوكو، أنه سيتم إرسال قرابة 600 متطوع نيجيري إلى كل من سيراليون وليبيريا وغينيا، للمساعدة على احتواء تفشي فيروس إيبولا في البلدان الثلاثة.
وقال تشوكو للصحافيين: "إن هؤلاء المتطوعين من المهن الصحية المختلفة على استعداد للانضمام إلى قوة دولية ستذهب إلى ليبيريا وسيراليون وغينيا، للمساعدة على احتواء فيروس إيبولا"، من دون أن يحدد موعدًا لذلك.
